This guide is meant to explain the in-game or in-character universe. Stelvik Station is a small part of a larger universe within the Milky Way Galaxy.
At some unknown point in human history Faster-Than-Light (FTL) travel was discovered. This caused a dramatic shift in human technology and allowed humanity to expand out into the galaxy. Through this rapid expansion into what is now human controlled space several human civilizations arose.
There are no other races in the known galaxy that are intelligent lifeforms. Human controlled space is vast, and almost 80% of all humans have never actually seen the planet Earth. There are two major civilizational powers in the galaxy. The Federation, which is what controls Earth and the Sol System and the Confederate Free League.
There are also many planetary systems under human control where there is no major or even minor power in control. Stelvik Station is one such place. The Uvel System is part of a vast network of independent minor powers in the galaxy and human controlled space.
Immigration between stations and between planetary systems is extremely rare. When major powers go to war with each other the independent stations rarely take notice. Currently, there are no known wars to the citizens of Stelvik Station. All of human civilization through the galaxy utilize the same currency.
