“I’ll be right back,” Elle said as she leaned over Jonah’s shoulder to tell him she needed to go freshen up or something. It was really warm inside the gala hall for some reason, or at least she felt as if it were really warm inside the hall.

“Of course,” Jonah answered. His voice was little more than a soft whisper as he turned his attention back onto the podium where their newly elected Primarch was still speaking. He’d only been half listening to what the man had been saying this entire time though. Jonah shifted slightly in his chair unconcerned with Elle getting up from her seat.

“Furthermore, I look forward to working with each and every one of you.” James said as he got to about the halfway mark of his speech. His eyes kept glancing between the data pad in front of him that had the speech written, and his daughter who was sitting with one of her friends.

He’d done good so far not paying an overt amount of attention on her, besides she’d been at this sort of event in the past. Though, this was the first time his preteen had to sit through the speaking portion, but she did choose it. The kid section was probably a bit too immature for her maybe?

In the time that James had gotten to the next section of his speech that was when he’d noticed something rather strange. The recorders seemed to be having problems, he started to say the next word of his speech when the entire room seemed to go completely silent. There was something seriously wrong with this situation.

Elle struggled as she was forced from the back doors of the gala hall into the main part of the hall. “You’ll regret this you moron…” She groaned loudly as she was forced into the room by the man who’d grabbed her coming out of the break room of the gala.

Isaac forced her further into the room as he held a disruptor against her temple, this elicited several gasps from the crowd once they’d realized what was happening. Though, the tall sandy blonde haired man seemed to do little in the way of caring. “You’ll regret it if you don’t shut it.” He hissed into her ear.

Jonah nearly jumped out of his chair when he saw the strange man he didn’t recognize holding Elle hostage, but something made the security officer hesitate. It was the disruptor he’d pressed to the side of the woman, or maybe it was the group of younger children over in the corner. He said nothing, the people holding the recorders had also frozen.

Then he realized, maybe that was why the feed had cut out? It was a question that seemed to sour his mood quite a bit. “What do you want?” Jonah finally managed to blurt out.

James had seen the danger, looked over at his daughter for a brief moment, then his vision returned back to the man holding the young doctor hostage. He couldn’t let the threatening man know his child was there. “Let her go, I’m the primarch not her…”

Isaac laughed, a deep hearty laugh that seemed to echo off the gala hall walls and the door that he’d just entered through. He could see security watching him carefully as he forced Elle further until they were in the middle of the room. “Who wants to take a chance that I don’t manage to burn a hole in this young woman’s head before you can pull the trigger?” He asked.

Jonah looked at his men and women, nodding once, then looked back at the man holding the woman hostage. “Look whatever it is you think you want let’s talk. There’s no reason to hold her like that though. Let her go.” He managed to say through gritted teeth.

Elle was staring at Jonah, and every second she stood there being held by this man was just one more second that she wished she would have told her best friend no. She could have come up with ten thousand different excuses for why she couldn’t have attended this event. And, each one of them had been more creative than the last.

“I don’t think so,” Isaac hissed as he dug the end of the disruptor a little tighter into the woman’s skull. He’d noticed that security had at least stopped closing in on him. Clearly the man standing in front of him was the man in charge. He’d heard what the man standing at the podium said, “Oh you fool this isn’t politically motivated.”

His grip tightening on Elle’s wrists as he stood there staring at each of them. He didn’t waste time telling them his motivations either. “You wouldn’t understand my motivations either so don’t even bother asking.”

James found this entire situation quite strange. Who takes a hostage, well now a group of hostages, and doesn’t want to talk about their motivations behind it? He had to think fast, and he could already see the wheels in the man’s head beginning to turn. All it took was a single look into his eyes to know that this situation was far from over.

“Try me,” Jonah said softly.

Isaac continued to hold the woman as tightly as he possibly could. He debated on telling them what he wanted, why he was doing this… But, the only thing that came from his lips was another deep laugh that filled the room. At any moment the news feeds would finally activate all he had to do was wait and then the entire station would see the spectacle.

There was just one problem, Isaac knew that would possibly mean security would get involved from outside the gala doors. They hadn’t burst through the doors, not yet at least, and he didn’t quite know how much time he had for that either.

“Why should I tell you?” Isaac asked him, “It’s not like it’ll make any difference.”

Elle could tell the man was stalling for the moment, but she couldn’t quite figure out why he was stalling like that. It didn’t make sense, none of this situation seemed to make any sense and time seemed to be ticking away. What was he waiting for?

Jonah didn’t dare move from his spot, “You don’t know if it’ll make any difference unless you tell us what you want?”
