Description
Nor Class space stations were constructed in service of the Cardassian Union throughout much of the mid-24th Century. One of the most strategic space stations in the Federation is Deep Space 9 which is a repurposed Nor Class space station.
Following the withdrawal from Bajor, the Federation was invited to take command of Terok Nor, later named Deep Space 9. This Nor Class station has the duty of standing guard near the wormhole leading into the Gamma Quadrant.
Nor Class space stations have 6 docking pylons along with 12 docking ports around the outer ring. The central core is where most of the engineering systems are located. The central core houses Station Operations and the 3 level promenade as well. The inner ring is the habitat ring housing all personnel and civilians while the outer ring is for docking and storage of goods.
Nor Class space stations were originally designed by the Cardassian Union for the purposes of mining and resource refinery operations. Despite this the stations in the service of the United Federation of Planets has been repurposed for other roles within the Federation.
